Maybe "undead" is an unfair blanket term, but I categorize Ms. Fortune along with Squigly (and perhaps Leviathan) because they have both ceased living by some violent manner and now continue to function via supernatural means.

I'd argue Nadia Fortune did die, if briefly. She was hacked to pieces and left for dead. I'm guessing she secretly ingested the Life Gem (gulp!) in those final moments when the Medici thugs surrounded the Fish Bone Gang. In that blood-soaked bag of body parts thrown into the bay, there are two scenarios:
    • Life Gem integration to Ms. Fortune completed before being chopped to pieces. Ms. Fortune is effectively Manji from Blade of the Immortal, impossibly living with new regenerative features. Newly powered, one could say she isn't killed but mildly inconvenienced by being butchered.
    • Life Gem integration to Ms. Fortune completed after being murdered. Compared to the other scenario, this one is much easier to label undead.
Following the logical heart attack metaphor, the difference is in the revival. Shock paddle a heart attack victim and they are still human. Nadia has gone beyond being a normal feral. Normal humanoids need a great amount of blood constantly in circulation to supply oxygen and nutrients to the brain. Severed, Ms. Fortune can roll her head around and even propel it with excess blood. She came back from a lethal event different, no longer following the rules of the living.

In any case, the canon info thread labels her as undead:

How old is this thread? Because i like it. I feel like "time" should be greatly expanded to show major events and stuff, events mentioned in recent story modes and stuff (rise and fall of Gehenna maybe? Beowulf fighting Grendel so and so years ago?)

True! If only we had specific dates! The closest we get are the birthdays. We don't even know what year the game takes place (e.g. like Gundam's Universal Century makes it easy to keep track when events happen. For instance, Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team takes place in UC0079). All we got to go on is approximations. Like the Grand War is said to last around ten years, and we know it ended with the Queen going full Skullgirl. She alone redirected the Grand War from three nations fighting each other to stopping the inhuman monster threatening them all:

-7 years Grand War ends in giant battle between Skullgirl Nancy Renoir and 3 armies (Beowulf = 30)
-14 years Skullgirl Selene Contiello goes on a rampage (Beowulf = 23)
-17 years Grand War begins? (Beowulf = 20)

I need to revise the Time chart for Beowulf, but in the meantime, here's Weight again, trying to emphasize how big Big Band really is.

    Weight

Here's a zoomed-out version of the chart, showing the full 5000 unit diameter of Big Band's circle compared to the rest:

Maybe the circles should be in area instead of diameter? Big Band is a little over 50 times the weight of Peacock, but far more than 50 Peacock circles would fit inside Big Band.

So that's it! That pretty much nails my uncertainty. When I was making it, something didn't feel right. Like you said, one would need 54 Peacocks to outweigh a Big Band.

I'll need to rethink this for area. *cracks open Geometry textbook*
Hopefully Robo Fortune comes soon so I can add it's weight (remember when it had the same heavy screen-shake step effect as Big Band?).

Haha, do I need to get the DDB broom?

As for the previous weight chart, I swear, it's like my brain shut down once it turned to the summer. Following MysteriousJ's wise suggestion, here is the weight chart now mathematically proportionate! Each circle is based on area, not diameter, for size:
In the lower right is a tiny diagram demonstrating a comparison. Even when I give Double 500 lbs., the whole cast is still almost half of Big Band's weight.

i think Fortune is undead in the sense that she was dead and revived, but her body function like a living one, even generating blood (probably have the body temperature of a living person too), unlike squigly, that doesn't have a functional body, but can move around thanks to the skullgirl necromantic power and have free will thanks to leviathan.

And big band, i would say that his cyborg body is integrated with his nervous system, so he controls his mechanical parts like they are part of his body, so, he doesn't weight 95 lbs, he weights 5000.

Yeah, Big Band is inseparable from his cyborg body, but his parts ratio is interesting. 1.9% organic. If x-rays could get past his thick, metallic hull, one would probably see a skull, spine, some ribs, and a collection of some vital organs (he must have at least a brain).
Here he is standing up straight. Perhaps the sloping posture in-game is due to Big Band's legs barely able to support all that brass.

As for Ms. Fortune's condition, the Life Gem is quite miraculous. The brain needs like 25% of the total blood volume pumped to it continuously. How does she manage going headless without a constant supply of nutritious, oxygenated blood? I guess the Life Gem is constantly pressing CTRL+Z on cell death. Never-ending repair or regeneration. Squigly has a much reduced but similar biological maintenance (something that defies scientific understanding). She may not bleed like Fortune, but she still functions (lest she be a pile of bones).

I'm not sure Squigly needs blood to function. Her left hand is nothing but bones, and yet despite the lack of nourishing blood nor muscles'n'tendons to animate it, she still has no problems with moving it around. If it works for the hand, might as well work for the whole body.

I reckon being within Skullgirl's/Skullheart's power range animates her, whereas Leviathan's influence keeps decay at a minimum when she's in a stasis-like sleep.

The idea is that squigly is moving thanks to the skullgirl power, she can even talk while having her mouth shut. I imagine her dead body being like a puppet to her spirit, instead of being a functional body.

    The line specifically is

"The girl is becoming stronger as she loses herself to the heart. My own abilities weren't this strong either..."
"To my shame it appears I cannot entirely block the Skull Heart's influence... I am forced to admit this is so. If not for this power, I doubt I would even be hearing your voice."

So yeah, Squigly's ability to "speak" comes from the Skull Heart and not Leviathan, Leviathan only allows her to keep her consciousness as she uses the Skull Heart's power.
And he can also breath fire which is helpful.

The thing a lot of people misunderstand though, is that Fortune doesn't have fast regeneration. If she did then her wounds would have healed.
Whta the Life Gem does do, is produce a limitless supply of blood instantly.
I always thought that was just a sugarcoated way for Leviathan to say, "Girl, if it wasn't for the Skullgirl you'd be dead as a brick right now."

Nah, because immediately after that line they start discussing the stitches on Squigly's mouth, so I'm pretty sure it's a literal referral to how Squigly is speaking.

It feels pretty concrete to me.
"If it wasn't for her power I doubt I could even hear your voice." "What are you- *touches mouth* What? Who would do this?" Wherein this refers explicitly to stitching up Squigly's mouth.

Like, maybe you could argue that Leviathan as a character could have been referring to Squigly just being alive, but from a storywriting perspective that kind of segue doesn't make sense unless he's specifically talking about her voice.

True, that's how transfusions work, but we know that anything Skullheart-related has weird powers. It could be possible that with L0's experiments, she's had her blood-producing cells altered enough to where some of them produce Skullgirl blood cells or plasma.

Besides, how would the blood affect her in the first place if it didn't alter some tissue? Canon tells us that she's able to use the Gae Bolga Matrix because of the SG blood and training--otherwise it would kill her.
