What is the Humble Indie Bundle?
    Basically, in a nutshell.
There's five games, with six or so more up for grabs for a very small price.
Pay what you want. Pay above the average and get some extra stuff, be it a sound track, or extra games.
Every single bit of money goes to charity.
But I'm sure you've all heard of this before.
Making this thread to talk about when there's MAJOR Humble Indie Bundle deals (weekly can count if they're good neough, but I rarely pay attention to though), and what games there are in it, and if they're worth it.

    For now...
We have the Humble JUMBO Bundle!
Sanctum 2, Magicka (And all DLC!), Garry's Mod, Serious Sam 3, Natural Selection 2, and Orcs Must Die 2 (All DLC
Basically, a very good selection of games. The average at the moment is $4.44, pay more than that and get all six games, plus some upcoming mystery games!

Given the "Jumbo" title, you'll probably be getting a lot of value out of this.
But, that remains to be seen.
So talk about the games in here, I guess! Sell people on the bundle!

I grabbed this Bundle and the Warner Bros Bundle from a few weeks ago.

Now to just get something that could run it...

    I wouldn't say that's exactly a sin.
You're still supporting charity and you'll have a lot to play when you get a rig that can play them

Never really played Natural Selection 2 or Sanctum 2, or Magicka, but I already played both Serious Sam 3 and Orcs Must Die 2, and I have to say that they're both really fun games.

Serious Sam 3 is great if you enjoy shooters with giant levels, tons of weapons, tons of enemies, and huge boss battles. Basically, if you've never played any of the games in his series before, just know that you'll be dodging like crazy, because this game is not based around cover, which only makes it that much more fun. With tons of enemies on the screen, and tons of weapons for you to use, there's a lot of prioritizing on who you should shoot and weapon switching so you have the best weapon to kill that enemy. A lot of people like to compare it to old school fps games because of that.

Orcs Must Die 2 is... a third person... action... tower defense game? I dunno how to describe it, but its fun as hell fighting and coming up with ways to use your traps on the orcs. Some of the maps later in the game can be pretty tricky to defend as well, so there's tons of strategy involved.

So yeah, both of those games are great from my experiences with them. The music in both games can be pretty awesome at times too.

Oh yeah, and with how popular it is, I don't think anything needs to be said about GMod other than be sure to look around the Steam Workshop for the game. There's lots of interesting stuff in there.

Edit: Actually, another thing, be sure to check out Elevator: Source on GMod with a few buddies. It can be pretty entertaining.

I highly recommend Gmod, simply for the value you get out of it. There's so much to do, and a lot of custom game modes to play.

There is a serious downside though.
To get the absolute most out of it, and to play some mods, you need a semi-comprehensive number of steam games.
Mostly: Half-Life 2 (Not sure if necessary, but it's what the first Gmod was based off, so would be smart), Half-Life 2 episode 2 (Necessary for some mods and game modes), Team Fortress 2 (Needed for some game mods, but it's free though), and Counter-Strike Source (MANDATORY for a lot of game modes, weapons, and Trouble in Terrorist Town)

Humble Bundles are great! I can still remember early interviews with the Wolfire guys for HIB1, back when they had no idea if the concept would even be successful or not. I'll admit I don't always buy the bundles too high above the average, but I feel the money I save ends up going to help Kickstarters anyway.

I was surprised how much fun I had from a couple of the Android bundles too. Waking Mars and Fieldrunners in particular were hella fun. There are still sooo many games I bought that I haven't gotten around to playing either. I just started playing Dustforce recently, and so far I feel like I could replay each of its stages at least a dozen times. So much good stuff out here.

I'm on the fence with this latest bundle though. I'd mainly get it for Natural Selection 2, but I know if I wasn't playing with friends, I'd probably just get frustrated with that one. NS2 streams are fun to watch, and I love the team aspects of it, but I've played enough Quake and Unreal to know that the frantic FPS style just isn't my thing. No way my Commanding skills would be gdlk enough to avoid being in the trenches either, lol.

The first Sanctum was beautiful. I haven't had a chance to play Sanctum 2 as much, but from what I've seen and played it seems like a bigger and better expansion of the first one

Oh yeah, I'm gonna have to throw my recommendations in here too.

Natural Selection 2 is pretty fun, one side is Aliens, one Side is humans.
Both have their own tech trees, advancement, and commander.
Basically you wanna get as much territory as you can, then push into their base and kill their commander. It can get pretty hectic, but a commander (one player) can help guide you, get advancements you need, and even heal you if need be. The asymmetry between the humans and the aliens is really fun, and for $4.44 that's really a steal.

Also, Magicka. Good fucking lord. Really charming and hilarious game. LOts of references. How does it play/
Basically, you have eight elements, you can queue up to five of those, and then cast a combination spell, which could be anything from a rock, to a laser beam of death. It's most recommended you play it with friends because you're gonna die a lot.

Friendly fire in Magicka kills you more than the enemies, he's speaking the truth.

Also it comes with ALL DLC so you get a pretty substantial package alone with that

The humble jumbo bundle is definitely worth it. The only problem for me is that I already own all of those but Sanctum 2... I almost want to not beat the average and just throw in a dollar for the steam keys, but I've never done that for a humble bundle before and it would make me feel like a dick. Particularly because this image pops up:

The reasn why they banned just getting a cent for everything and adding the "Beat the Average" goal was because a lot of people just wanted the games and didn't care about charity.

And Horseman, don't forget they have confirmed more will be coming.
Probably a lot, even. It's probably called the "JUmbo" bundle for a reason

You have to buy all of them, I mean it's for charity man, come on.

But that's (gasp) against the rules! I would never do such a thing. Only Rebels and Hooligans and Horses do that sort of thing, and I am not most of those things.

i'm one of these people. always buy my bundles by 1~5 dollar above the average and split it 75% for the developers and 25% as humble tip.

Hate me, blame me, sue me! but i think these developers deserves the money and i'd rather help with charity when i know better the institution (every country deserves love, but i put charity projects in my country, where i can check if they're actually doing something a bit above in the priority list)

Well I was talking more about people who didn't even respect the developers either.
Paying 1 cent for games is a literal steal and not in the good way.
I always go for $4 too at least.
Or above the average unless it's insane.

I thought only trading keys was against the rules (due to Steams inability to monitor such trades). I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with giving away keys that you have purchased or acquired yourself through non-illegal means.

Though, even if it is against the rules, I still don't care lol.

Paying a cent caused a lot of disputes early on, but I'm actually glad they left the option in for most of the bundles. If the sale is supposed to be "Pay What You Want" then that's just how it goes. Plus, I want to believe a lot of people slowly increased their average amounts in later bundles anyway, as their confidence in the sale grew. During the early bundles, I was actually worried that either the downloads would expire over time, or I'd just get trolled if I paid under $20. I can't blame folk for paying a cent on their first purchase, just to see if it was too good to be true or not.

I kinda miss the indie exclusive aspect of the Humble Bundles though, but at least there are enough sales out there today to give everyone some exposure. And yeah, I actually gave $0 to the developers for the WB Bundle. No offense to those guys, but I figured the company that could buy a last minute spot for Injustice at EVO could afford to be a little charitable!

There were people who got the bundle with Fez, but absolutely refused to pay a single cent to Phil Fish.
And if what all that shit he said was true, I can't blame them.

Man, why does Gmail keep throwing my Humble updates into the spam box? Silly Google!

Anyway, I've been wanting to get Twisted Dreams and Swapper for a while, so I definitely jumped on this one. Too bad I already bought Dust, or the deal would be even sweeter. Any thoughts on the other games? Monaco is totally new to me.
