Remember Marie people, I'm watching to see if you get up to any funny business.
On Boss Marie:
I had a really long post about how I really REALLY dislike her from a gameplay standpoint, but I'll just sum it up with this:
Though not many games actually do this, my belief is that fighting game boss should reward skillful play and knowledge of the game as its played normally. My go to example of this is Dizzy (GGX).
She's got nothing extra that a player using her cannot do normally. Just increased defense and damage and that's about it. She also doesn't bypass the systems of the game and disregards stun and hits. Combos and throws work normally on her.
That's why I think there's no need for a Boss Marie (in her current form) whenever they make a normal playable version. And besides, a playable version would have hundreds of new frames, why stick with the one with only like 50?
I haven't read the whole thread, but there should have been an idea that if there will be a playable Marie it should be the non-Skullgirl version.
The pre-Skullgirl Marie was a powerless war orphan. It'd be kind of useless to make that one playable.
But there was also intention to make Minette playable who's just as powerless, if not weaker.
Yeah but Minette has a community of Dagonians with her, some of which are strong fighters.
I'd rather we have the skullgirl version of Marie fighting that is all.
Actually, I was thinking it might be kind of interesting if playable Marie's blockbusters were based on Boss Marie's attacks. Like maybe use that Skeleton Dragon thing as a Level 1, or repurpose her minions from From 2 on into a sort of "Captain Storm" knockoff. At the very least, they could recycle some of their old sprite work.
I do think it could save "a little" work by recycling some old frames, but I would rather see some new blockbusters if possible, seeing as Marie's rather important and somewhat a fan fav how many blockbusters do you guys see her getting?
Pre-Skullgirl Marie has the same hair and eye color as Adam.
Are they related?
Marie actually had brown hair and blue eyes before she became a Skullgirl.
Regardless, matching hair and eye color isn't enough to suggest that they're related.
That is true, but I did check the color values of Pre-Skullgirl Marie from Double's story and Adam's new portrait from Squigly's story and they're pretty much a match.
So, yeah, it could be something or it could be nothing.
Considering her status as the current game's end boss, I could see Lab Zero giving her the "mid-boss" treatment, like Double and Valentine. Two Lv.1s (or one Lv.1 and one Lv.2, as Double has currently), a Lv.3 and a Lv.5.

She is in the game already, can summon the dead (Necromancer FTW!), One of her gameplay specialitys was to suck up the dead characters on the ground and boost herself, One of her gameplay inspiration was Mega maid.
I mean c'mon!
thank god I'm not the only one that just can't deal with her. I only play on ridiculous, but still.
